I think this land is quite the same as ours... They just play a different social game... At the first day you feel a bit scared because you just have landed after 11,5 hours on the plane and everything is so different... you go to a toilet and it is a Disneyland.. get a ticket.. another Disneyland... you want to buy something to eat... total Disneyland... you just can recognize Coke and rice on the shelves... Everything else is a mystery.... Luckily enough they put some drawings on most of the ready student dishes, so you won’t die :) But definitely it’s not Cracow… There are no English versions of the menu, no English speaking waiters, you are lucky if the bus stop has a name written in our letters. If you don’t know katakana, it’s quite hard to handle :) So… if you come here… get ready for some real mambo jumbo… You feel like a 2 year old child that can not read and can not speak… thank god that the toilets are marked in the same way that in Europe… :) Otherwise you could have a smelly accident… coz there are not much parks in here with some nice trees to piss on :)

Yes..... in Poland when you answer "Yes" for a question it means that you agree.... in Japan it means that you only understand the question.
If you ask somebody to go out for a party and he answers "Maybe"... it means that "NO", he will not go :)
If you ask somebody if he likes a certain person and he answers "Chotto"(a little) that means that he does not like him....
If you are on a business meeting and you receive several visit cards you should not put them into your pocket... you have to read them immediately and keep then on your hand for all the time you are with the giving person. So practically if you meet 5 guys, you need to keep 5 cards on your hand while talking to them.
The decision is taken by everyone included in the project. Everybody has his own stamp and he has to stamp the paper with decission. If he does not put his stamp to the paper that means that he disagrees.
If a Japanese guy can freely speak English, he actually can be more attractive to Japanese woman:)
If you leave your belongings on your table in McDonalds, while going into the toilet... they will still be there when you come back :) Try doing it in Europe... :)
Lately I told my Japanese teacher that my level is very poor and I did not learn a lot... and she answered "Sumimasen"( Sorry) :) try doing that in Europe :)

In here it is very often so humid that when you hang you clothes outside they will not get dry soon... even when it is sunny outside... you basically do not need to go for a jogging... it is enough to sit inside your room without the AirConditioning turned to... Never felt like that.... experience...

I just found out about another strange thing in this country... So... We sure know that there are quite many rich people in Japan... and they like to underline their position... So what they do? Louis Vuitton?... no... everybody got this.... A big nice house?.... not really, they prefer condos in the city centre.... So what they do is they get a nice European car... but not an ordinary BMW or Mercedes car.... They can get right wheel drive BMW and Mercedes in here.... but they are to cheap... and crap because they are not produced in Germany... so they import a left-hand drive Mercedes from Germany... which costs almost twice the normal price... because of the taxes and so on... yes..... it would be still easy to miss that is self imported, extremely expensive, snob car... so they leave a German registration numbers under the Japanese plate... and as Japanese plates are square and German are wider.... so you can clearly see it sticking out underneath the japanese one..... Yes it is Japan.... When I take a picture of that I will put it here....

Geeeeeeee... today for the first time in a very very long time I actually felt like home... Like every night I decided to go to the nearby shop to do some shopping. I went around the shop for some time, picked some goodies and went to pay.... and to my pleasant surprise I didn't hear any triple welcome, double excuse and quadruple let me help you.... the guy was actually not nice... he was moody, unhappy and apparently irritated... that really does not happen in here very often.... actually it doesn't happen in here at all... you have to realize that when you come into, for example a travel agency, everyone says hello to you... EVERYBODY... not just the guy that serves you.... When you get through the doors everybody stops their work and says HELLOOOOOOOOOOO.... when you go get out... everybody says THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU..... that is really scary... every day shopping is amazing because I am SO NOT used to this kind of behaviour... everybody is extremely nice, kind, caring and helpful.... if you go to a clothes store somebody will by standing by your side within 30 seconds... even if they do not speak English and I do not speak Japanese... they will still be eager to help.... that is really weird, when you come from a country like Poland, where most of the staff looks like they have just lost 90% of their family and they have 3 different terminal diseases.... Not to mention the women at most of the train stations.... they can be your every day GESTAPO.....

Japan is a strange country...

As I mentioned before... it is a strange country... why... because:

1) most girls in here walk like ducks...

2) they drink cold coffee from cans bought at wending machines

3) they have very strange hair cuts

4) english teacher in primary school does not speak english.... children know that one is 1... but they do not know how to write it...

5) if you thought that they mostly speak english... no they DON'T...

6) if you thought that young people dress very very very strange.... yes they DO... sometimes it looks like a freakin Disneyland mashed up with ... a worst trip of Jim MOrrison

7) if you thought that this country is BEAUTIFUL...well... it is... when you visit some sights... for every day.... CONCRETE... ASPHALT... CARSSSSSSSSSSS..... they even do not have any roundabouts... because it is a waist of space... you can always build a parking lot in there...

8) if you thought that they have parking lots like in Tokyo Drift... yes they have... you build a tower... and put a big egg shaped mill inside... than you park a car and lift it to the sky...

12) if you thought that all Asians are the same... no they are not... Japanese are amazing even for other Asian nations...

13) if you thought that they like flashy, pinky, loud stuff... YES... horrrrrrible...

14) if you thought that everybody has a hightec robot at his every day disposal... no he doe not have... many people even don't have a computer at home... at my flat my rice cooker is highest technology...

15) if you thought that they are polite... yes they are... very often to much... you can not walk for a minute around the shop without someone saying helo to you.... indicating that you can tell him to do what you want... actually many times I have seen that the sales man is kneeling by the table where customer seats... common thing.. people are bowing to each other... even when they speak ona cell phone... no they do not use video calls....

16) about their phones... iPHONE... do not make me laugh.... they had it all so much time ago... you can watch TV on you mobiles screen...

17) actually most of the people know where is Poland... what is strange for me... because I do not have to explain...

18) very often if they are comparing them selves to the world.... they mean USA... USA is the WORLD to them... try to find a book about japan-EU relations....

19) there is NO radiation in Hiroshima....

20) and if you thought that SUMO is their national sport... NO... I do not know a guy who cares about SUMO in here....

One of my favourite movies.... Very dark, very brutal and very true.... With evil people you can only fight using evil methods... The movie is set in the 90's, when the violence in the city was unbearable because of gangs fights for drug selling points. BOPE still works when the regular police cannot control the situation and it's pictured by the poor comunities as a hostil organisation, cause it enters into the guetos shooting without criteria to calm down the riots.
